Our Role
Kansai Plascon is a brand synonymous with superior quality, innovation, and reliability, positioning us as the preferred choice for high-end challenging projects across South Africa. Looking specifically at this project our team comprising, Project Lab, Pivot Painting & Renovation Solutions and Kansai Plascon were commissioned to embark on the complex task of resurfacing and repainting this popular building. After careful consideration of all the factors and challenges a solution comprising the 360°Plascon Partnership Pledge along with the best specialist painting services was offered to the client.
Key consideration/s:
The repainting of commercial buildings is indeed a mammoth task as it takes place after a long period of time, often a repaint comes at the back of a rebrand or refreshed look which requires specialised skills and products to ensure a perfect finish. Some of the key challenges and solutions we provided are detailed below:
- The buildings current coating was a stone- textured coating which is a unique substrate to work with especially as the client was looking to move away from this look and feel.
Plascon Professional Plaster & Gypsum Primer -PP700 was used as a full primer. The application of a full coat of the PP700 is integral in promoting adhesion as well as sealing of the entire surface due to varying degrees of porosity. The over-coat was done using the Professional Superior Low-Sheen (PEM1000/TLS) which dries to a low sheen finish with good washability and stain resistance. This product gives a smooth non-porous finish that dries quickly and has non-yellowing properties. - The stone textured coating posed a great challenge with the deep valleys and pits in the profile of the textured coating.
The specified products needed to be applied professionally to ensure maximum coverage of this unique substrate. This was achieved with ease by the professional and highly skilled team at Pivot Painting & Renovation Solutions.
